This shell is most famously used in cleansing/smudging rituals with Sage, but do you know why? Well, basically we witches work with the elements, so when smudging (or Cleansing) the dried herbs represent earth, the shell is the Sea element, once lit this creates fire and finally, air is the smoke that we see once the stick is lit.
